The list will not load or the video stutters: what to check
Most problems come from the list address, the source or the connection. Go through this checklist before writing to us.
The list will not import
If Plei says Enter a valid http(s) URL or The list is empty or not a valid M3U:
- Check you copied the whole address, with no spaces or line breaks at the start or end.
- It must start with
http://orhttps://. - Try opening the address in Safari: if it does not return text with
#EXTINFlines, the address is not an M3U list. - If you use a file, make sure it is
.m3uor.m3u8and not empty. - With very large lists, wait: Plei can take a few seconds to process them.
A video will not play
If you see This stream could not be played, the usual cause is that the source is down or its address has changed. Try again later. If the source is yours, check the server is running and the link is still valid.
It stutters or keeps loading
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to rule out a network problem.
- Move closer to the router or restart it.
- If several devices use the same source at once, the server may have a connection limit.
- A saturated or slow source stutters even if your connection is good.
Formats iOS will not play on its own
Plei uses the VLC engine and plays the vast majority of formats. If you see the prompt to open in VLC, iOS cannot handle that stream natively; you can open it in the VLC app, which supports even more formats.
