Second screen: two channels at once

Follow one match while keeping an eye on another, or leave the news in a corner while you watch a live film. Here is how to open it, how to use it and why your provider sometimes will not let it work.

What it is

The second screen opens a small window in the bottom-right corner with another live channel, while the main one keeps playing full screen. The sound is always the big window's, so two channels never play audio at once.

  • Premium. It is a Premium feature, and the 7-day trial includes it, no card needed.
  • TV only (Android TV and Fire TV). It is not in the phone version.
  • It works even on a 2016 Fire TV Stick. We tried it with two channels at once: the limit is not the device, but how many connections your provider allows.

How to open it

  1. Open the main menu

With a channel full screen, press Left until you reach the menu (first the channel list, then the categories, then the menu). Choose Second screen.

  2. Pick the channel

A picker opens with your lists on top and the categories and channels below. Up and Down switch rows; Left and Right move inside a row (the list row changes with "◀ ▶ change list"). If your remote has number keys, you can type the channel number.

  3. Press OK

Each OK moves forward one column; the last one opens the window in the corner. When it opens, a short hint appears: "OK to swap · Back to close".

How to use it

ButtonWhat it does
Right (full screen)Selects the small window.
OK (small window selected)Swaps the two channels: the small one becomes big and the other way round. It stays selected, so you can go back and forth by pressing OK.
Left (small window selected)Returns to the main channel.
Up / DownChanges the main channel.
BackCloses the small window.

Why it sometimes does not work: the connection limit

Watching two channels is two connections to your provider. Many accounts allow only one. If that is yours, the small window says so without disturbing what you are watching: "This list only allows one channel at a time" and "Try a channel from another list".

  • Try another list. The picker lets you choose a channel from any of the lists you have saved. If that other list belongs to another account, it does not share the limit.
  • AIDO TV remembers. It opens the picker on the list that already managed two channels and avoids the one that only allows one, so you do not hit the same wall twice.
  • It does not insist. If the second channel fails, it does not retry endlessly: that would not help and would only bother your provider.

It only costs while you use it

The small window creates its own player when it opens and releases it when it closes. If you leave the app, the connection to your provider is released too. If you do not use it, you pay nothing for it.

Frequently asked questions

Is the second screen free?

No: it is a Premium feature, included in the 7-day trial.

Do both channels play sound?

No. The sound is always the big window's; when you swap the channels, the sound moves with them.

Can I watch more than two channels?

No: it is two, the main one and the small window.

Does it work on the phone?

No, it is for the TV only (Android TV and Fire TV).

Can I put a channel from another list on the second screen?

Yes. The picker offers all your saved lists, and it is the best way out when your provider only allows one connection.

Does it include channels?

No. AIDO TV is a neutral player: it does not include, host, sell or recommend any channel or list. Read the content notice.
