AIDO TV for Android TV and Google TV
A clean, fast IPTV player for your Android TV or Google TV. It opens straight into your last channel, is operated entirely with the remote and includes no channels: you bring the list from your provider.
Compatible devices
AIDO TV runs on any Android TV or Google TV device with Android 5.0 or later:
- TVs with Android TV or Google TV (from Sony, Philips, TCL, Hisense, Xiaomi and other brands).
- Chromecast with Google TV and NVIDIA SHIELD.
- Android TV players and sticks, such as those from Xiaomi and other makers.
We tested it thoroughly on a Sony BRAVIA TV running Android TV 11.
Got a Fire TV? It is the same app, but you install it from the Amazon Appstore. See AIDO TV for Fire TV. Samsung (Tizen) TVs and Apple TV do not use Android TV and AIDO TV is not available on them yet; the LG webOS version is in development.
Installing it from Google Play
Open Google Play on the TV
On your TV's home screen, open the Google Play Store and use search. Type "AIDO TV".
Install it
Open its page and press Install. You can also do it from your phone: open AIDO TV's Google Play page, choose your TV as the target device and press Install.
Open it and add your list
The first time you will see an empty screen: AIDO TV comes with no content. Follow the guide how to add your list.
If it does not show up when you search, check that your TV really runs Android TV or Google TV and that the app store is up to date.
Using it with the remote
It is designed for the TV remote, with no mouse or keyboard. It opens straight into playback and everything else appears when you press Left or Right.
| Button | What it does in AIDO TV |
|---|---|
| Left | With the picture full screen, opens the channel list. Inside the list, it steps back in time through the channel's programmes (with catch-up, which is Premium, it reaches those already aired); when there is no more, it opens the categories and, again, the main menu (Guide, Movies, Series, Search, Settings). |
| Right | Full screen, it also opens the channel list. Inside the list, it moves forward through the channel's upcoming programmes, with their synopsis. |
| Up / Down | Full screen, changes channel. Inside the list, moves between channels. |
| OK | Full screen, pauses or resumes and shows the information bar. In the list, plays the highlighted channel; a long press adds it to your favourites. |
| Back | Closes the panels one at a time (menu, categories, list). From the channel list it asks whether you want to leave the app. |
| Numbers (if your remote has them) | Type a channel number and press OK. On some TVs the system keeps the number keys if another live TV app is the default input. |
| Rewind or Previous (if your remote has them) | Goes back to the last channel you were watching. |
| Menu or Options (if your remote has it) | Opens the audio and subtitle selector. |
| Home | Leaves AIDO TV and returns to the TV's home screen. |
On your TV's home screen
- It opens on your last channel. Press the icon and you are watching TV, with no menus in between. You can also choose to open on a fixed channel or on the list (Premium).
- A row of its own on the home screen. On the Android TV and Google TV launcher, AIDO TV can leave a row with the last channel you watched, so you can jump back to it with one click. Depending on your TV's launcher, you may need to switch it on in the customise-channels options.
With your phone
- Add the list without typing with the remote. Under Settings → Manage lists → Add from your phone a QR code appears: scan it, fill in the list on your phone and the TV receives it. Full steps in the guide to adding a list.
- Cast to the TV. If you use AIDO TV on your Android phone, you can send playback to a TV with Chromecast.
Premium on Android TV
You get 7 days of Premium to start, no card needed. After that you move to the Basic version (one active list) unless you choose Premium. Purchases and subscriptions are made with your Google account from inside the app and managed in Google Play (Payments & subscriptions). Prices are on the main page; Google Play shows the final amount for your country.
If anything stutters, read IPTV buffering or stuttering: the cause is almost always the channel or the provider, not the TV.
