Catch-up: watch what already aired

You missed the start of the match or the news: with catch-up you step back through a channel's guide and play the programme from the beginning. It works with your provider's archive, so here is what you need and when it shows up.

What catch-up is

Catch-up (or "archive") lets you watch a programme that has already aired. It is not a recording on your device: AIDO TV asks your provider's archive for that programme and plays it from the start.

What you need

  • Premium. Catch-up is a Premium feature, and the 7-day trial includes it, no card needed.
  • A provider that offers an archive on that channel. AIDO TV cannot create an archive your provider does not keep. It only shows catch-up on channels the provider declares as having an archive; if yours does not offer it, you will see nothing.
  • Programme guide (EPG) with that channel's programmes, because it is what says what aired and when. See how the guide works.

How to use it

  1. Open the channel list

With the picture full screen, press Left (or Right).

  2. Find a channel with an archive

Channels that have one show the notice "⟲ Catch-up available — press ◄ for the archive".

  3. Step back in time

Press Left: you move from the next programme to the current one and then to those already aired, starting with the latest. Archive programmes are marked "⟲ ARCHIVE".

  4. Play it

With the programme selected, press OK ("Press OK to play from the archive"). It plays from the beginning.

To return to the live broadcast, go back to the list and choose the channel.

How far back you can go

Up to 48 hours at most, or less if your provider keeps fewer days of archive on that channel. The 48-hour limit comes from the guide: it is what AIDO TV keeps of programmes that already aired.

If the archive does not show

What happensWhat to check
It shows on no channelYou are on the Basic version (catch-up is Premium), or your provider does not offer an archive. Ask them.
It shows on some channels and not othersThat is normal: the archive is switched on channel by channel at the provider.
There is an archive but no past programmesThat channel's guide does not hold the programmes that already aired. See "If a channel is missing programmes" in the programme guide page.
Your list uses an uncommon archive formatAIDO TV understands the most common catch-up formats. If your provider's is unknown, it prefers not to show it rather than risk playing the wrong programme.
It says "Channel unavailable" when playingThe server did not serve that programme: it may be outside the provider's archive, or a connection limit may apply. Read connection limit and errors.
