AIDO TV for Fire TV and Fire TV Stick

A clean, fast IPTV player for your Fire TV. It runs even on the 2016 Fire TV Stick, is operated entirely with the remote and includes no channels: you bring the list from your provider.

Compatible devices

AIDO TV is on the Amazon Appstore for more than 90 models and variants of Fire TV devices:

  • Fire TV Stick: 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation, Lite, 4K, 4K Max and 4K Plus.
  • Fire TV Cube and Fire TV boxes from 1st to 3rd generation.
  • TVs with Fire TV built in: Amazon's own series and models from Insignia, Toshiba, Hisense, TCL, Xiaomi, Panasonic, JVC and other brands.

We tested it thoroughly on a 2nd-generation Fire TV Stick (2016), one of the most modest, and it works well.

What is not available: Fire tablets are not supported, and the newest Fire TV devices running Vega OS (for example the Fire TV Stick 4K Select) do not run Android apps, so AIDO TV does not work on them yet. Fire TV devices with Fire OS are not affected.

Installing it on your Fire TV

  1. Find the app

On your Fire TV home screen, open Find (the magnifying glass) and type "AIDO TV". You can also open its Amazon Appstore page with your Amazon account and send it to your device.

  2. Download it

Choose Get (or Download) and wait for it to finish.

  3. Open it and add your list

The first time you will see an empty screen: AIDO TV comes with no content. Follow the guide how to add your list.

Always install it from the Amazon Appstore. If you install it from an external APK you will not be able to buy Premium: purchases only work with the store version.

Using it with the Fire TV remote

It is designed for the remote, with no mouse or keyboard. It opens straight into playback and everything else appears when you press Left or Right.

ButtonWhat it does in AIDO TV
1 · LeftWith the picture full screen, opens the channel list. Inside the list, it steps back in time through the channel's programmes (with catch-up, which is Premium, it reaches those already aired); when there is no more, it opens the categories and, again, the main menu (Guide, Movies, Series, Search, Settings).
2 · RightFull screen, it also opens the channel list. Inside the list, it moves forward through the channel's upcoming programmes, with their synopsis.
3 · Up / DownFull screen, changes channel. Inside the list, moves between channels.
4 · BackCloses the panels one at a time (menu, categories, list). From the channel list it asks whether you want to leave the app.
5 · HomeLeaves AIDO TV and returns to the Fire TV home screen.
6 · Menu (≡)Opens the audio and subtitle selector.
7 · RewindGoes back to the last channel you were watching.

With OK full screen you pause or resume playback and the information bar appears; in the list it plays the highlighted channel, and a long press adds it to your favourites. On film and series posters, a long press of OK also adds them to your favourites.

Adding your list without typing with the remote

Typing a long address with a Fire TV remote is slow. Under Settings → Manage lists → Add from your phone a QR code appears: scan it with your phone, fill in the list there and the TV receives it. The full steps are in the guide to adding a list.

Older Fire TV Sticks: what to expect

  • Very large lists. We tested a list of about 19,000 channels on the 2016 Stick and it works, but memory is the limit there: with many lists stored at once, the app can close. Keep few lists saved.
  • Cuts and stuttering. They almost always come from the channel or the provider, not the Stick. An Ethernet adapter helps a lot on models with weak Wi-Fi. Read IPTV buffering or stuttering.
  • https addresses. Older Sticks with outdated software can carry expired security certificates, and some https servers may fail because of that. If the rest of your channels work, ask your provider for an alternative address.
  • Second screen. Watching two channels at once (Premium) also works on the 2016 Stick; the limit is how many simultaneous connections your provider allows.

Premium on Fire TV

You get 7 days of Premium to start, no card needed. After that you move to the Basic version (one active list) unless you choose Premium. Purchases and subscriptions are made with your Amazon account from inside the app, and managed in your Amazon account. Prices are on the main page; Amazon shows the final amount for your country.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work on an older Fire TV Stick?

Yes. We tested it thoroughly on a 2nd-generation Fire TV Stick (2016). On the oldest ones, memory is the limit with very large lists.

What about Fire TV devices with Vega OS?

Not yet. The newest Fire TV devices running Vega OS do not run Android apps and AIDO TV is not available on them. Fire TV devices with Fire OS (the vast majority) work normally.

Does it work on Fire tablets?

No. AIDO TV is designed for television and is not available for Fire tablets.

Can I install it from an APK?

You can, but without the store you will not be able to buy Premium. Install it from the Amazon Appstore.

How do I buy Premium on Fire TV?

From the Premium screen inside the app, with your Amazon account. Subscriptions are managed from that same account.

Does it include channels?

No. AIDO TV is a neutral player: it does not include, host, sell or recommend any channel or list. You add your provider's; read the content notice.
